Allow me to introduce myself: I was born in 1952, and grew up, in Switzerland. After my tertiary education, a partner and myself established a sales company, of which I was the managing director.
We sold the company in 1992 and I emigrated to Somerset West, South Africa. Initially, I was very busy starting my new life and getting acquainted with my new surroundings. A new language, friendly people, picturesque countryside, plenty of space and even more sunlight were my initial impressions of this 'new country'.
Quite coincidentally it came about, that I started purchasing houses and selling these off again. During this process I learnt that, to close a successful transaction, not only good marketing but also sales assistance and contact with the right agents and markets were very important. This lead to the development of the company PROCON Property Consultants, which markets properties, at local and international level, with the help of modern methods.
Today I live in Stellenbosch, with Hannelie and our two Rottweilers. The town of Stellenbosch was founded in 1679 and is the second oldest town in South Africa. Amidst winelands but not far from the coast, it has a special homely atmosphere with its historic buildings and many oak trees. If I want to go for a walk with the dogs I am presented with many possibilities; or I can take a trip into the countryside on my motorbike. It's a real pleasure driving through the scarcely populated winelands with its mountains and passes.
Summarising my impressions to date about my newfound country and its life here in the Cape, I say: lovely weather, awesome scenery, vast space and excellent infrastructure. It is nice to be in South Africa. |
